Workshop making JOHNNY CAKES

Will you come and make real Antillean Johnny Cakes with us? Then you are most welcome on Saturday 9 July, from 13:30 to 16:15 in the Markthal in Rotterdam!

In this workshop you will make some delicious Johnny Cakes together with Jurino. During the workshop we will of course pay extensive attention to making the perfect dough and how to ensure that your Johnny Cakes are ALWAYS nice and airy. We will also work with different fillings. You are of course already familiar with cheese and cod… but during this workshop we will make 5 different fillings, including a vegetarian version.

We are going to make all these things in groups of 3. In the cooking studio you have plenty of room for it and with Jurino's explanation it will be fine anyway.

In almost three hours you will learn everything about this Antillean snack. Where it comes from, how the recipe came about… and of course the secrets of the most delicious Johnny Cake.

During the workshop we will of course already taste a Johnny Cake and at the end you will get 5 pieces (one with each filling) to take home. You will also receive an extra package of the used 'Soulfood Seasoning' spices for cooking at home.

When you order a ticket for this workshop, all materials and ingredients are included, so:

LOCATION (ATTENTION!)

The workshop will be held in the Markthal in Rotterdam. There we rent the cooking studio of the SVO vocational training Food† There is room enough for everyone, so we don't get in each other's way! The market hall is right next to Blaak train/metro station. The entrance to the cooking studio is on the Extended Nieuwstraat 177. That is on the side (outside) of the Markthal.

On the window is the number 177 and in large letters “SVO Vakopleiding food”.

PARKING

You can park cheaply in Rotterdam if you reserve a spot in one of the municipal garages in advance. The garage 'Oude Haven' and 'Kiphof' are closest to our location. For a parking ticket of 5 hours you only pay € 6,50. Click here to reserve a spot

– The entrance to the cooking studio is located on the side (outside) of the Markthal. The address is Verlengde Nieuwstraat 177 and the window reads “SVO Vakopleiding Food”

– Unfortunately, the studio is not suitable for wheelchair users

– We ask you to be present about 10 minutes before the start, so that we can start immediately. Have you been there before? Then we would like to ask you to do another round in that beautiful Markthal, so that we have time to prepare all the stuff

– Our workshops are suitable for participants from 12 years old
