Savory pie with mushrooms and minced meat

This is a real autumn dish! You make this savory pie with different types of mushrooms, seasoned minced meat and a hot water crust. That's the quick and less greasy version of a pie dough.

Of course you can also use ready-made dough for savory pies for this recipe. You can find it in the freezer of the supermarket. That's even easier!

Vegan version of the savory pie

You can easily make a vegan version of this savory pie by replacing the minced meat with vegetarian mincemeat, using margarine instead of butter and omitting the egg for spreading. You can also grease the cake with some oil before baking.



Only one savory pie of about 24 centimeters in diameter from this recipe. That's enough for 6 servings.

Ingredients:

for the dough

  • 100 gr butter
  • 450 gr wheat flour
  • 1 / 2 tsp salt
  • 250 ml of boiling water
  • 1 egg yolk, to brush

for the filling

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 500 gr half and half chopped
  • 200 g mixed mushrooms (e.g. mushrooms, chestnut mushrooms and oyster mushrooms)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tl paprika
  • ½ l cumin powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation savory pie with mushrooms and minced meat

Start making the filling. Slice the mushrooms and chop the onion. Squeeze the garlic cloves. Heat the olive oil over medium heat and fry the onion until it is translucent. Then add the mushrooms and garlic and fry for a few minutes. Then set this aside.



Now brown the minced meat with the paprika, cumin and salt and pepper to taste. Add the minced meat to the mushrooms.

Now preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a cake tin with butter. Then line the bottom of the baking pan with baking paper.

Now you can make the dough. Bring the water to the boil and mix in the butter. Then mix the flour with the salt.

When the water is boiling, add it to the flour all at once and stir well with a spoon. At some point you will not be able to stir and you will have to knead further with your hands.



Note: the dough may still be very hot at this point!

Knead the dough into a smooth ball and divide it into 2/3 and 1/3 parts. Take the 2/3 part of the dough and roll it out to a sheet of about 5mm thick and line the cake tin with it. Then pour the filling into the baking tin.

Now also roll out the other part of the dough to make a 'lid'. Place it on the cake and poke a hole in the middle. You can now roll the edges of the pie, so that the savory pie will remain closed later.

Spread the top of the savory pie and bake it for about 40-50 minutes until golden and golden. Enjoy your dinner!
